Questions
Common questions.
If your question is not answered here, message us on WhatsApp. You will usually get a reply the same day, and there is no obligation to book.
Do I need a doctor's referral to book?
No. You can book directly and we will carry out the assessment ourselves. If we find something that needs a doctor's opinion, such as imaging, medication or a surgical question, we will tell you and help you reach the right specialist.
What happens in the first appointment?
The first appointment is mainly assessment. We will ask how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and what you need to return to. We then examine your movement, strength and the structures involved. Most patients receive some hands-on treatment and a few exercises on the same visit, along with an explanation of what we found.
How long does a session take?
Allow 45 minutes to an hour for the first visit, as the assessment takes time. Follow-up sessions are usually shorter. If you are working to a tight schedule, tell us when you book and we will advise what is possible.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts are helpful for knee or hip problems, and a sleeveless top for shoulder or neck problems. If that is not practical, come as you are and we will manage.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the condition, how long it has been present and how you respond to treatment. Rather than quoting a number at the first visit, we reassess after the first few sessions and give you a realistic estimate. You will always know what we are working towards and roughly how long we expect it to take.
Will treatment be painful?
Some techniques and some loading can be uncomfortable, and mild soreness afterwards is normal. Nothing should be unbearable. Tell us at any point if something is too much and we will adjust the treatment.
Do I have to do exercises at home?
Yes. Most of your progress depends on what happens between sessions. Home programmes are kept short and specific so that they fit into your routine and are easier to keep up.
What is on the first floor?
A Pilates studio and a gym, directly above the clinic. This lets you move from treatment into strength work in the same building, with your therapist and instructor working from the same plan.
Can I use the Pilates studio or gym without being a patient?
The first floor is for gym and Pilates members. Membership is separate from physiotherapy treatment, so you do not need to be a patient to join. Message us on WhatsApp and we will explain the current options.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Paediatric sessions are built around play rather than instruction, and parents are involved throughout, since much of the progress comes from what is practised at home between visits.
How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp, call, or email. WhatsApp is usually the fastest way to get a reply and to check which times are free this week.
